OUR CRITERIA
Our goal at TEDxYouth@BainbridgeIsland is to present talks on issues that matter to our community and to spark a real dialogue about how to make a difference.
We seek ideas that are clear, concise, compelling, original and relevant. Our Executive Team collaborated with our Curation Team to review speaker applications, and encouraged applicants to review “What is a TED talk?” and content guidelines so they had a clear understanding of what we were looking for.
We are eager to consider ideas that:
- Are radically new
- Showcase fresh approaches to enduring problems
- Challenge our conceptions about what’s possible
- Expose us to cutting-edge research, technology or design
- Energetically redefine the human experience
We reject ideas that are:
- Vague or underdeveloped
- Based on pseudoscience rather than quantifiable and specific data
- Purely personal or motivational in nature
- Already ubiquitous
- Solely about overcoming adversity or obstacles
- Motivated by or seek to promote corporate, political, or religious agendas
Our event took place Saturday, February 1, 2020. Speaker applications were accepted beginning October 4, 2019 and the deadline was November 4, 2019. We made the first batch of speaker selections by November 18, 2019.
This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
